FAQ for Prospective Clients

1. What is the cost to live at Hannah’s Home?

All services are free to the birthmother.

2. What if I am still in High School?

Many of our high school age residents continue their schooling through ECOT (the Electronic Class Room of Tomorrow). Some school districts will send the work to the resident.

We feel education is very important to the young woman.

3. Do you provide doctors?

Medical care is received off campus by an obstetrical group. If you do not have private insurance the social worker will help you obtain medical care through the Healthy Start program.

4. How do I speak with a counselor?

A licensed social worker is the program director and is in the home four days a week. The licensed family counselor meets with each resident on a weekly basis and is available for counseling with the birthfather and other family members.

5. Do I have to live there?

All clients live at the home. The program prepares you for the future, enabling you to make good choices for you and your child. Hannah’s Home serves the residents immediate needs and strives to improve the life experience for the next generation.

6. Can I stay after my baby is born?

Hannah’s Home is licensed by the state of Ohio as a maternity home. This permits us to have residents during their pregnancy but does not permit us to house infants. However, during the birthmother’s stay discharge planning is a vital piece of her individualized program. The birthmother is assisted in exploring all options for housing and care after the birth.

7. Do you place children for adoption?

Hannah’s Home does not actively facilitate adoptions. If a birthmother plans to place her child with a family we will give her several agencies that are available to help her. Our counselors will support her and help prepare her for the hospital stay and the placing of her child.
